What is CapCut?
CapCut is a video editor from ByteDance with desktop, mobile and web versions. It has a multi-track timeline, templates, effects and AI tools, with a free tier and paid Pro, Ultra and Teams plans.
CapCut is a full editor, and its online version asks you to sign in first. When you only need to trim, crop, compress or convert a clip, CutFast does it in the browser tab — no account, no install, no Pro plan.
CapCut is a full video editor with a timeline, effects, templates and AI tools; Pro is USD 19.99 a month and the online editor needs an account. CutFast is a set of browser tools for single edits — trim, crop, compress, convert — that open a local file without sign-in or install. If the job takes five minutes, you don't need the editor.
Most of what people open CapCut for is a single quick job. Those jobs don't need a project, a timeline and a subscription.
CapCut Online sends you to a sign-in page first. CutFast opens a local file straight away in a guest editor.
Works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on a laptop or phone. Useful on a school or work machine where you can't install CapCut desktop.
A dropped file is processed in the browser, not uploaded to a cloud project. Good for recordings you would rather not put in someone's cloud storage.
Every common one-off edit has a CutFast tool that opens on the file you drop.
Cut a hook out of a long take, crop to 9:16 for Shorts or Reels, fix a sideways phone clip.
Get a clip under 25 MB for Discord or email, or turn MOV, MKV or GIF into MP4.
Burn in subtitles, extract the audio as MP3, or replace the soundtrack.
