Split GIF into Frames

Extract every frame from an animated GIF as PNG or JPEG images. Preview all frames with their timing, grab a single frame, or download the whole set as a ZIP — everything runs locally in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Do you upload my GIF to a server?

No. The GIF is decoded and split entirely inside your browser — your file never leaves your device.

Should I export frames as PNG or JPEG?

Choose PNG if your GIF has transparent areas. Choose JPEG for smaller files — transparent pixels are flattened onto a white background.

Is there a limit on how many frames I can extract?

No hard limit. The preview grid shows the first 60 frames to stay fast, but the ZIP download always contains every frame in the GIF.

How are the extracted frames named?

Frames are numbered in playback order — frame-001, frame-002, and so on — so they sort correctly in any file manager or editor.
