Record HLS Live Stream to MP4

Paste a live .m3u8 URL, pick a recording duration, and we'll fetch the next N minutes and write a clean, finalized MP4. Output is properly muxed (with moov atom), so it plays anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is the output a clean MP4 or a fragmented MP4?

Standard MP4 with moov atom — plays in any player. We use proper trim.end so the conversion finalizes cleanly.

What if the live stream ends before my duration runs out?

If the playlist is marked as ENDED before the target duration, recording finalizes early with whatever was captured.

Can I record copyrighted streams?

Only record content you have rights to capture. Always check the source's terms of service.

Why does m3u8 fail to load?

CORS — many live HLS endpoints from private/internal sources block cross-origin fetches.

Can I stop recording early?

Yes — click Stop. Output may be incomplete (the MP4 finalize step may not run). For reliable output, let it run to completion.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome 105+, Edge 105+, Safari 16.4+, Firefox 130+. WebCodecs is required.
